Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Therapy
Provide occupational therapy treatments and procedures as directed. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) will be to assist the Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) in providing rehabilitation therapy t patients of all ages with various disabilities and conditions, assist in development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, direct activity programs and document the progress of treatment, in accordance with state law. Other duties and positions as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Experience: Associates degree required.

License/Certification: Occupational Therapy Assistance License in the State of Alabama (required) COTA preferred.

Works inside under normal temperature conditions with adequate light, in a well ventilated, clean area; some areas are limited in space; usually works around others; must expect some moderate noise.
Position requires sitting for 25% of the workday and mobility 75% of the workday.
There is frequent stopping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
There is frequent reaching, use of hands and receptive action.
Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity on conversation either by phone or in person.
Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
Occasional exposure to electrical shock.
Conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and on-the-job injuries.
Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.

This position has an OSHA Category I level of exposure to blood and body substances. Category I tasks are all procedures or other job-related tasks involving an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or body tissues or a potential for spills or splashes with blood, body fluids or tissues. Use of appropriate protective measure is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
